Red Dune Camp is located on farm Tranendal, south of Gochas (S 25º 07′ 48.6”, E 18º 56′ 56.9”) in the south-east of Namibia, on the road from Stampriet/Gochas (C15) to Mata Mata. It is only 155 km from the Mata Mata gate of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park and 35 km from Gochas, the nearest small town.
The Red Dune Camp currently consists of 3 exclusive self-catering campsites on top of a red Kalahari dune. These unique campsites are a down-to-earth and close to nature experience. On request, a tent can also be pitched on top of the red dune. On the farm yard there are 3 grass campsites and 2 self-catering rooms.
The area also offers a wide variety of birds, insects and small animals that can be observed. Spectacular sunsets and brilliant star-studded night skies in Africa are the order of the day.
Dunes Campsite
The 3 separate self-catering dune camps are located on top of the red dune with a breathtaking view of the Kalahari landscape. They have wooden decks to sleep on or enjoy a sunset and the breathtakingly beautiful Kalahari sunsets. The silence and exclusive use of the campsites will take you close to nature and at night you can sleep well under the star-studded African sky. It is suitable for 4 x4 vehicles with roof tents and there is enough open space to pitch normal tents comfortably and still enjoy the view. Each dune camp also has a cold/hot water “forest shower”, a proper private flushing toilet and a fireplace.
Farm yard
The grass campsites are located under shady trees, with a communal braai area with tables and chairs to prepare meals. A power point is also available.
An ablution block is available with 2 hot water showers, 2 flushing toilets and 2 sinks only a few meters from the grass camp sites. Next to the ablution block is an equipped kitchen for washing dishes and/or preparing food.
